Girls' hockey team compete at the Midlands' Indoor Finals

On Saturday the U16 girls’ hockey team travelled to Wolverhampton to compete at the Midlands’ Indoor Finals for a place at a ‘home’ National Final. Our team cruised through the group stages, beating Worksop, Princethorpe, Friary Grange and Uppingham scoring 17 and conceding just 2 goals.
The semi-final against Oakham was always going to be a tense affair; 2-1 up at half-time we could have added more but were more than content to maintain the score line and secure one of the two places at the Nationals. A 5-1 loss in the final to Repton could not dampen spirits on what had been an excellent day.
The girls displayed great skill, teamwork, determination and (it must be said) admirable perseverance. The squad of Dina Koerzdoerfer, Lena Sophie-Ivens, Lauren Brown, Ali Silk, Megan Walker, Claudia Moberley, Megan Longden, Elouise Brookes, Ellie Childs and Esme Gibson should be very proud of their efforts.
