Sport

We are not a sports academy: but we do aim to perform as if we are. National, county and regional champions in a wide range of sports over the last few years, we want our pupils to become all the richer through personal fulfilment and teamwork. Our fixture lists are demanding and extensive.

Our range of sport is considerable, our facilities superb, and our expectations high. To see former pupils gaining full international caps (as they do) in rugby, hockey or whatever, gives us great pride, but so too does seeing a pupil fight their way into an Under 14 B team. 91风流楼凤pupils should enjoy sport at the highest level they can attain and take from the experience friendships and skills that will last for life.

At our Preparatory School, pupils participate in games lessons every week and there is an extensive fixtures list for pupils of all abilities. Pupils regularly win team and individual competitions in rugby, hockey (boys and girls), netball, swimming, cross-country and more, including at county and national level.

Current High-Level Sporting Representation

Here at 91风流楼凤 we have a unique environment in which our students thrive. They are not only encouraged to succeed, but they want to succeed. This is what makes 91风流楼凤 a fantastic place for your children to flourish not only academically, but within the sporting world. There is no lack of talent amongst our pupils, and we are proud of all they have and will achieve in their chosen fields.

When interviewing our students, it was amazing to see just how passionate they are about their sport. Passion and dedication is something that we strive to instil in all of our students.

In their own words, the students described their experiences in their chosen sport:

Will H - Athletics
'My experiences with running on the national stage have been very enjoyable throughout my time competing in athletics. At U13 level, I ranked the highest in the country at the 800m, and later at the U15 level, I won On's ‘Night of the 10k’ PB's, also in the 800m. I hope to continue to improve and work hard to further my performances in athletics. The experiences I have gained from the sport have been fantastic, and 91风流楼凤has always been a huge help with training and competitions.'

Sofia M – Netball
'At the age of 14, I was selected to represent the U17 National Performance League (NPL) Loughborough Lightning netball squad and went on to play with them at the NPL Tournament and U15 School Games. At 15 years old, I was selected to represent Birmingham Panthers U19s in the NPL tournament. This season, I’m still at Birmingham Panthers and a part of the squad of twelve. I love being a part of the team because it is my local pathway and has a fantastic community of coaches and players.

I also play for Ryland Netball Club, a local 91风流楼凤club, where we have achieved great success at national competitions. I am also proud to represent the 91风流楼凤 1st team. We look forward to working together and achieving further success this year and next. I really enjoy training and playing at such a high standard with a great group of different people. These experiences have taught me a lot and continue to do so, and I am looking forward to the next stages of my sports journey.'

Emily M – Hockey
‘In 2025, I was selected for the TA, a system by England hockey as a pathway to play high level hockey alongside high standards. Playing in the festival was a highlight of the season concluding my year scoring three goals in three matches and going top of the table. Being coached by premier managers throughout the year has been a big part of improving, and having the wide range of support has also helped me excel at Bromsgrove. Being in the 1st XI has also been such a pleasure during Fifth Form, scoring over fifteen goals this season and playing for the enjoyment as a team and for each other. Making my national league debut for Stourport also showed me the hard work and determination that comes with success, not just talent.'

Frazer B – Football
‘I was selected to represent England U15 in May 2024, where we played four football matches in Croatia against Morocco, USA, Croatia and France. Competing against such strong opposition from around the world was an incredible experience and a real step up in intensity. It was an honour to wear the England shirt and stand alongside the best players in the country. Representing England at this level is something I am extremely proud of.

Personally, the experience has pushed me to raise my standards and prove to myself that I can compete at an international level. Playing against top opposition challenged my decision-making and consistency, helping me grow in confidence with every game. I learned a lot about handling pressure, staying focused and performing in high-stake environments. The opportunity has motivated me even more to keep improving and working hard so I can continue progressing within the England pathway.'

Oli H - Rugby
'Rugby has always been a huge part of my life, and this season has been especially exciting. I have been playing for Gloucester in the Under 18 Academy League, which has really helped me develop my skills, intensity, and understanding of the game at a high level. I was selected for an England U18 training camp, preparing for the U18 Six Nations, which is a massive honour and something I am incredibly proud of. Being involved in that environment has motivated me to keep improving and pushing myself. I am really looking forward to future England camps and, if I continue to work hard and perform well, I will hopefully represent England U18 in a match one day. None of my achievements would have been possible without the help and support from all the coaching staff at School, especially Mr Windo and Mr Mullan who have helped me develop as a rugby player but also as a person too.'

Martha B - Cross Country
'I started cross-country when I was 12 years old and trained at School. I enjoyed my first cross-country season, and I was encouraged by my progress. I continued training in Year 8 and Year 9, and qualified for the English Schools Championships, a national competition, in cross-country and track – in the 1,500 metres. I also represented the School at the English Schools’ Cross-Country Cup, a team event, which we qualified for in Years 8, 9 and 10. I am now competing in my third English Schools’ Cross-Country Championships.

My highlights have been finishing in eleventh place at the English Schools’ Cross-Country Championships, being selected as first reserve for the Junior Girls’ England Cross-Country Team, winning a bronze medal at the England Athletics National Championships in the 3,000 metres and, having finished in first place in the West Midlands qualifiers for the mini-Marathon, representing the region at the event in London. I enjoy both training and the challenge of competing, and I am looking forward to seeing where running might take me in the future.'

Chloe C - Equestrian
'I have successfully competed at international pony eventing level with my pony Blennerville Rua, progressing through the British Eventing pathway and taking part in multiple FEI international competitions. Across the 2025 season, I have produced consistent results in CCI2* Pony competitions, which led to me being long listed for the GB Pony Eventing Team. Selection at this level requires riders to compete in a series of international events throughout the season, producing strong performances across all three phases – dressage, show jumping and cross country.

Alongside my eventing career, I have also competed internationally in show jumping with Westwood II, travelling to Belgium to compete at an international show and continuing to build experience at that level. I have also competed internationally in Spain, before beginning my campaign to be considered for the GB Junior Eventing Team. Moving into Junior teams involves stepping up to larger tracks and stronger international fields, and I will spend the season competing at international events as I work towards that goal.'

Oliver C - Swimming
'In 2026 I have competed in the Swim England Winter Nationals in the 50m Backstroke, placing 10th in England and 11th in Britain. Over the last few years, I have consistently qualified for and medalled at both County and Regional Championships across multiple strokes.

Competing in swimming for over a decade has helped me develop valuable skills such as time management, enabling me to balance an intensive training schedule alongside my academic commitments. Swimming has also taught me how to stay focused under pressure and reinforced the importance of consistent hard work. I strive to continually improve in all aspects of my sport and am excited to see what the future holds.'

Zachary T - Football
'I was selected in December 2025 for the English Men's U15 team, not just that but a year early - making me the youngest across all teams. We played - and won - against Spain, Italy and Iceland, whilst scoring eleven goals without conceding. This was a very proud moment for me, my family, and coaches. Gaining experience of playing at the highest level of football at my age andmaking friends with people across the world, it was an honour to represent my country. But the hard work continues, and hopefully there will be more call ups to come.'

Isabella D - Athletics
'I have been competing in athletics since the age of seven and currently compete at national level for Birchfield Harriers. I have medalled multiple times at National Championships in the 60m, 200m and 300m, and have set a track record in Lee Valley for the 300m. Running the final leg in national relay events has been a highlight, competing under pressure alongside some of the best athletes in the country.

Despite facing injuries including Osgood Schlatter, a groin tear and plantar fasciitis, I have continued to progress while balancing academics at 91风流楼凤alongside training. I am now working towards competing at collegiate level in the USA and continuing to develop my performance at the highest level possible.'

Neave C - Hockey
'I am a determined and ambitious hockey player; my Talent Academy goal has seen me show exceptional perseverance in my journey to get there. I never allow setbacks to define me. Instead, I use each opportunity as motivation to improve, enabling me to return stronger, sharper, and more focused every time.

I am known for my competitiveness, I consistently push myself in both training and matches. I have an exceptionally strong work ethic, and this drives my commitment to developing my skills, fitness, and understanding of the game. I approach every challenge with a positive mindset and a determination to succeed. If I could give any advice to my peers, it is that my journey is a testament to the value of persistence and belief, proving that talent combined with effort and determination can open the door to new opportunities.

I am proud to represent the School in 1st team hockey. I am also part of Sutton Talent Academy and I play 1st and 2nd team at my hockey club, Stourport.'

Henry F - Swimming
'In 2025 I was selected to be a member of the Swim Wales Development Programme, following my performances at the Welsh and British National Championships. This role allows me to take part in various training camps and hopefully, in the future, I will be able to take part in an international competition in Europe with them. Being among so many amazing swimmers has really helped me to understand what it takes to compete at such a high level and to make the most out of my swimming journey.'

Sports Facilities

91风流楼凤Senior and Prep School lie in one hundred acres of grounds with grass pitches galore. A newly built sports arena big enough for eight badminton courts and with seating for 500 is of a national standard and this together with a refurbished indoor swimming pool, new dance studios, hospitality suite for post-match teas and other functions sits alongside our existing sports facilities: two sports halls with climbing walls, two floodlit astroturfs, squash courts, tennis and netball courts, extensive grass pitches and a 400 metre running track (at the adjacent Ryland Centre). The superb Outdoor Education facility of Upton Warren is a mere five minute drive away, and there pupils can engage in a host of activities from sailing and kayaking to climbing and ropework.

Each year we seek to improve facilities further to ensure our sporting reputation is matched by the environment in which we play our games.

A note to external visitors on match days: Please be advised that dogs are not permitted on the 91风流楼凤 site, unless they belong to residential boarding staff.
