Easter Tea Party

On Tuesday, 20th March, IB students hosted the annual Easter Tea Party for local care home residents.
Twenty residents from two residential homes enjoyed an afternoon of crafting, a generous spread of tea and cakes, and musical accompaniment by our talented students. We even managed an impromptu rendition of
The White Cliffs of Dover in honour of Dame Vera Lynn’s 101st birthday!
The feedback has been extremely positive: they were especially impressed by the Easter decorations of origami flowers and crochet bunnies, which had been lovingly created by the students themselves.
The event was a chance for the CAS students to engage with project management, event planning and team work: Anna A and Ada T (both general organising, fundraising), Lina S (fundraising, baking and decoration), and Violette P (crafting), as well as Heidi C and Matt C (music) worked tirelessly ahead of the event.
Many students supported at run-up fundraising and crafting, or helped set up on the day. Yana S was again superb as official CAS photographer. Over twenty-five students were involved!
It was fantastic to see lots of Housman students chipping in, generously helping set up and clear away afterwards, as well as welcoming guests to the School courteously and warmly. All the elderly guests as well as the staff who accompanied them commented on how wonderful the "young people" had been, bringing many of the quieter residents out of their shells.
We are pleased to able to continue the annual tradition of serving the community at Easter - it really does make a difference to both our guests and our IB students.
