Fifth Form House Drama 2020
Posted: 10/12/2020
Wednesday evening saw the second installment of the Senior House Drama Festival with six plays from members of the Fifth Form. It seemed a minor miracle that over thirty performers were able to rehearse and produce anything at all, let alone to such a very high standard under present restrictions.
As in the previous competition, the constant support and camaraderie shown between all competing Houses was a great example to the rest of the School.
The Headmaster kindly adjudicated, and awards were as follows:
Best Supporting Actor was Thando B for his role of the Mayor in “The Visit” presented by Wendron-Gordon House.
The Runner-Up Best Actor Prize went to Paris S for her very convincing Lancashire accent and sensitive portrayal as May in “The Accrington Pals”.
The Best Actor Prize went to Charlie C for his role as Fraser in “Albert’s Bridge”.
There was a Special Adjudicator’s Award for Jamie L - his first time on the Cobham Stage – playing Rosencrantz opposite Jake W in “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”.
A second Special Adjudicator’s Award was given to Elmshurst House for their total commitment to their Coarse Acting Play “Streuth”, which got the evening off to a tremendous start.
The Runner Up Best Play was awarded to Wendron-Gordon House for their large-scale, very finely detailed production of “The Visit”.
Finally, the Best Play prize in the Fifth Form went to School House for their technically brilliant performance of “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead”, a masterclass in comic timing.
Many congratulations to all performers and stage crew, and a huge thank you to everyone who supported online or in the auditorium itself. We hope that you will tune in again on Friday, 22nd January 2021 at 7pm for the Upper Sixth Form Competition – postponed from three weeks ago - that promises to be a real treat for the start of the Lent Term.
